Reseña del libro "Five Years, Four Fronts: A German Officer's World war ii Combat Memoir"
* Revealing memoir of the German army *Details life on four fronts during WWII *Unusual insight into the German perspective Georg Grossjohann enlisted in the Reichswehr as a soldier bound for twelve years'service to the Weimar Republic. His World War II service began as an NCO in the Polish campaign and ended as a regimental commander. During this time he earned, among other decorations, the Iron Cross for bravery on the battlefield. Grossjohann regales us not only with his combat experiences, but also the day-to-day routine of life as a junior and, later, field-grade officer. From Poland, he takes the reader to the Maginot Line, then on to the hardships he endured in Russia between 1941 and 1945, and his capture by the Americans in early 1945. The characters he describes in the course of his memoir range from the cowardly and incompetent to the eccentric and valient. Five Years, Four Fronts is a frank and direct account of one man's life in the German army during World War II. Spanning four fighting fronts over five years, it describes a German army that many will be surprised existed.
