Considerada la santa hindu mas importante del siglo XX, Sri Anandamayi Ma (1896-1982) nacio el 30 de abril de 1896 en Kheora, una diminuta aldea bengali, en una familia de la casta brahmanica. She grew up in an atmosphere of extreme simplicity, surrounded by poverty, and she hardly went to school. She attained enlightenment without a guru or without having studied the sacred texts. Her colossal spiritual state gives the position deservedly in the cast of great saints of modern India, such as Ramakrishna, Vivekananda, Aurobindo Ghose, Ramana Maharshi and Paramahansa Yogananda.
