"This is the only country in the world where poetry is respected – you can be killed because of this", Osip Mandelstam cultivated this thought when he learned that another poet was killed in a Soviet prison. Sadly, he also ended up in a forced labor camp close to Vladivostok. Despite his opposition to the Bolshevik Revolution, he decided to live in the Soviet Union, where he suffered recurrent imprisonments and reclusions in forced labor camps. This volume compiles the three books of poems published by Osip Mandelstam during his life.
