He travels the world for ten years until he returns to the village upon learning of his fathers death, somewhat disappointed at not having achieved his goals. But looking out at the horizon from the roof of his houses, he discovers that he already has everything he was looking for there.The novel shows that happiness is closer to us than we think, and that we must learn to discover the good things in ordinary situations in life. It highlights mutual assistance and solidarity from one person to another as a way of getting ahead in life.
